HOME PROJECTS

Home projects will be a required grade for 7th and 8th graders in Family and Consumer Science classes. These projects have several purposes. The projects will teach you the importance of long range planning as well as give you an opportunity to be creative and learn new skills. I expect you to spend a minimum of 3 hours to a maximum of ????. Your grade will be based on neatness, quality of work, creativeness, amount of time spent, how well you learned a new skill, and effort put into the project. Following is a list of home project suggestions:

1. Sewing Project – Make a pillow, apron, needlepoint belt or keychain, counter
cross – stitch, Haan craft project.

2. Foods Project – Make dinner for your family- make up the menu, check out recipes,
Go to the grocery, set table, prepare dinner, and clean up!

3. Foods Project – Demonstrate for the class how to make a recipe.

4. Foods Project – Prepare for the class a recipe , bring a copy of the recipe to class, and
Samples for class to try.

5. Cookbook – Make up your own cookbook.. In it include your favorite recipes, new recipes, illustrations, table of contents.

6. Make a Food Guide Pyramid – Build a 3 D food guide pyramid and make illustrations to depict each area.

7. Create a Menu and Design a T- Shirt for your Own Restaurant – Menu must be your own creation and T-shirt can be one of your Dad’s old ones’!

8. Film your own TV cooking show - Using posters and food supplies prepare a TV show to demonstrate a food product….just like EMERIL!

9. THINK UP YOUR OWN IDEA!!! Be sure and ask for approval from me and your parents.
