Become aware of the trends in fatherhood today.

1. Describe the role of the father in today’s society (Include characteristics
importance, behaviors etc.)

For the future -------

Listen to the songs that reference the role of fathers::
Cat’s in the Cradle by Harry Chapin, Busy Man by Bob Regan and George Teren and sung by Billy Ray Cyrus, and I'm Already There by Lone Star –how do these songs describe the role of the father? Do you agree? Discuss the pro’s and con’s of fatherhood in each song. Do you agree or disagree? Etc.

Conduct a web search to discover the current roles of fathers – the influence they may have on their child’s development. Discuss these findings as a class.

Teacher note: Whatever songs you choose, include the words for students to follow as they listen.
