Acknowledgements
Many people contributed to this twenty-fourth yearbook.
The eYearbook Planning
Committee members are acknowledged for their recognition
that tradition does not always serve the professional
needs of educators. Thus, the transition from a historical
and research focused yearbook in traditional book form
to a practitioner oriented CD is their suggestion for
meeting the needs of today’s teachers.
Recognizing that
family and consumer sciences administrators and teacher
educators at the state level are in key positions to
note exemplary programs, teachers, and practices, these
individuals were contacted by e-mail and asked to nominate
deserving teachers/programs in their states. We are
grateful to the 15 individuals from nine states for
contributing 22 nominations for inclusion in this eyearbook.
All nominees were contacted, congratulated, and invited
to provide a description of their program, supplementary
program materials, and, where appropriate, examples
of public recognition. All ten teachers who responded
are represented in this eYearbook. Five middle level
and five secondary teachers from six states are included
in the eYearbook. We thank the nominators and teachers
who responded.
A project such as this requires
administrative and technical assistance. We are appreciative
of the following colleagues at Kansas State University:
Kathy Brown, Administrative Assistant to the Associate
Dean of Education; Jean Kiekel, Graduate Teaching Assistant
and doctoral student; Mary Hammel, Associate Director
for Media and Creative Services; and Dennis Devenney,
Associate Director for Technology and Network Services.
