Journey through the Dept. – a short walk through all three labs with teacher
Introduction to workplace environment – the ‘S.S. Ingraham’ ship size, destination, name of ship, tonnage, # of rooms, # of passengers and crew, # of decks, entertainment features
Hospitality/tourism jobs: students choose jobs aboard ship, every area considered (e.g. entertainer, purser, infirmary,)
Career opportunities/responsibilities: health, licenses, customer service, safety, knowledge
Skills and aptitudes: pathways, best personal choices, job application for these jobs
Video of ship: send for sample cruising video packets (typically 10 – 15 minutes)

Wardrobe design and selection Need: magazines, pattern books, fabric swatches
Find, draw or cut and mount work uniform, recreation, formal, leisure, touring clothing
Machine operation, sample threading, parts of sewing machine, sew lines, curves, and practice paper stitching around a diagram (a sailboat, on flat and wavy seas) (See activity sheet A at end of this curriculum.)
